Tangra, in East Kolkata, is India’s only historical Chinatown. Hakka Chinese tanners made it home, and their cuisine evolved for the Bengali palate—keeping core Chinese techniques while embracing local spices. The style spread nationwide, from sweet‑sour notes to punchy Szechwan (Sichuan‑inspired) heat.
Introduction of Tibetan Momos: In the early ’90s, Tibetan migration further enriched the city’s flavours. Our Tibetan Momos won Best Dish of the Year at a 2009 food festival by the Singapore Tourism Board & Restaurants Association Singapore; Parsley Fish and Chicken Szechwan Pickled Chilli were also nominated.

Kolkata’s cuisine is a living mosaic of Mughal, Dutch, Portuguese, French, Chinese and British influences. As the former capital under the British, the city merged local produce with Western technique—yielding creamy sauces, restrained spice, and a love for baking, grilling, frying, poaching, steaming and roasting.
Modern Techniques · Authentic Flavours: We honour heritage while cooking smarter—air‑frying, sous‑vide and steaming replace heavy deep‑frying and microwaving. House‑blended spices and herbs keep flavours soulful and clean.
